I keep falling asleep at my keyboard and I couldn't be happier

Bedhead-The Present MP3

Slowcore pioneers, fantastic songs, best nap band ever.

Woods-Be Still MP3 (via The Catbird seat)

Lo-fi , gentle, great for naps.

Jimmy Eat World-Goodbye Sky Harbour MP3

18 minutes long, great for naps. This is also a great example of American Hardcore v2.0:

  • V1.0 -In the early to mid eighties , some kids feel alienated from the mainstream and feel the need to express themselves, but just don't feel the fashion and the psuedo-glam nihilism of punk, so they start hardcore to get their incredibly earnest feelings out, and it's awesome and the most valid and important music of it's time.
  • V2.0 -In the mid to late nineties: some kids feel alienated and abandoned by the mainstream and feel the need to express themselves but just don't feel the aggression and the inch-deep politics of hardcore, so they start emocore to get their incredibly earnest feelings out, and it's pretty awesome and completely valid, and not very important, but it made you feel things pretty hard a lot of the time, and a lot of it was pretty and it's great for making out too.
This track is good reminder of why people LOVED these bands, and I love falling asleep to them.

Chore-General Warning

I used to listen to that song and just get sooooooooooooo depressed then fall asleep when I was like, 17. Sometimes I miss that about my youth, when I could just feel one feeling at a time and everything felt so pure and honest. Adults lie to themselves and kids hate them for it.

Of course, back then I was kid with no job, no rent, no girlfriend, no school (that year), no pressure, and no idea how the real world worked, and plenty of time for naps, so it was easy for me to be self righteous.

Beirut- Scenic World MP3

Thankfully now there is art and music that mixes the aesthetic and the authenticity of the old with a slightly wider emotional pallet, still totally great for naps at the keyboard, making great music and still making us feel human. This is my favourite Beirut song, and current favourite song to fall asleep too, off the Lon Gisland EP
