Girls are Pretty Forever.

Bob powers is god.

He is a writer and comedian living in New York, for the last few years he maintained a blog called "Girls Are Pretty", in which he goes on a daily personal regression assignment and leaves us with a short piece between one sentence and 5 pages long. Each story is self contained and is either ingeniously funny or heartbreaking and moving, but most often both. He is probably my favorite writer. They compiled girls are pretty into a book, called happy cruelty day, my sister got it for me for christmas but it wasn't in stock in chapters yet so she made me a box and decorated in like the book. It was my favourite present ever.

Happy cruelty day was good, but it missed a lot of my favourite GAP stories and put in a lot of sadder, less dark ones (it's still a ridiculously dark book though) . Anyway, I think GAP is over now, which is fine. It was often the best part of my day for a couple of years but the last year and a half he's been off his game. It's still been good, just not amazing, but now that he's not doing new posts he's put up the complete archive. If ever you are feeling lost or bored or depressed, grab almost anything from 2003 -2005 and feel human again.

He writes like I wish I could speak. I think of language the way I think of language because of his writing, and think of the beauty of girls like I do because of him. Apparently he is writing a novel, I am super jazzed for it.
